PM backs Armed Forces Day

During a recent visit to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister David Cameron spent time talking to troops and thanked them for the outstanding contribution they make to the UK. He said:

“My message to our Armed Services on Armed Forces Day is a really big thank you. You should be proud of what you do, because the whole country is proud of you … Britain’s Armed Forces are brave, are professional and they are a great example to our nation – thank you.”

Mr Cameron also read a moving tribute from England football manager Fabio Capello and his World Cup team. The players were shown an inspirational video of Servicemen and women in Afghanistan ahead of their first game against the USA on Saturday. In his letter Mr Capello said:

“Your brave service to your country means so much to the players and I, and we all have complete respect for the incredible sacrifices you and your families make.”
